About Oxford

Oxford is one of Oakland County's northernmost communities — a village and township with a rural character, small-town downtown, and price points that offer significant value relative to the county's southern tier. Oxford Village has an authentic historic character with local restaurants, antique shops, and a community feel that's increasingly rare in suburban Michigan.

The community gained national attention in late 2021 for difficult reasons, and the subsequent years have shown a community actively engaged in healing and rebuilding. For buyers, Oxford offers genuine value, rural character, and a school district that has worked hard to rebuild community trust and support.

Real Estate Overview

Oxford's market offers a range that includes everything from modest village homes and subdivisions to genuine rural acreage, equestrian properties, and lakefront parcels. It's one of the few remaining places in Oakland County where a buyer can acquire meaningful land at a reasonable price.

New construction activity has been moderate in Oxford Township, primarily in planned residential communities with suburban amenities. The market generally moves at a slightly slower pace than southern Oakland County cities, giving buyers more time to make considered decisions.

What Your Budget Buys in Oxford

Entry Tier

$220K–$320K gets you a solid ranch or colonial in Oxford Township — often on a generous lot with more space than comparable prices anywhere in southern Oakland County.

Mid Range

$320K–$480K brings newer construction communities, updated homes in the village area, or acreage properties with rural character.

Luxury Tier

Above $480K opens up equestrian properties, larger rural parcels, and custom builds in Oxford Township's more rural northern sections.

Brad’s Take

Oxford is for the buyer who genuinely wants space, values, and rural authenticity — and isn't hung up on the commute. You can still get acreage in Oakland County here, which is almost impossible in the southern tier anymore. The community is resilient, prices reflect real value, and I think the long-term trajectory is positive for buyers who are patient.
